VM Systems Manager

Department: US Mobile Units

The IT System Administrator within the Centralized Production Operations, will administer and support the infrastructure that hosts applications required for 24/7 utilizations to incorporate hardware and virtualized computer systems. Supported by a centralized datacenter NEP will be launching a Centralized Production offering connecting remote PCR’s, live event locations, and client facilities to core infrastructure in our datacenter. The datacenter will be a 24/7 facility, offering clients the ability to connect at more flexible hours and in a variety of ways to support remote workflows and burst capacity

What you will do:

  • Developing, implementing, and evaluating projects in line with organizational objectives within the existing network and infrastructure
  • Validation/ Installation of OS systems, updates, and patches related to performance and security requirements
  • Architect and manage application and database stack including optimization of the software to perform at the highest level of resiliency and redundancy as required to support a 24/7 environment
  • Identify and remediate issues with vMotion, leveraging service data to generate alerts and actionable responses proactively.
  • Producing accurate and timely reporting of program status throughout its life cycle
  • Administer password and policy for client based access, aligning access privileges with corporate policies in place.
  • Serve as a link between the business and customers by actively collaborating with stakeholders and senior business leaders to ensure the scope and specifications of a system are documented and adhered to
  • Provide innovative and workable solutions to a wide range of technical challenges and business opportunities
  • Manage the analysis of business requirements with respect to the development and selection of application solutions and technologies
  • Meeting with stakeholders to make communication easy and transparent regarding project issues and decisions on services

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of related work experience, or BS degree, or technical training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or greater in Computer Science or relevant experience is required
  • Extensive knowledge of VMware ESXI and related technologies such as vSphere and vCenter
  • Experience in managing high volume application and database systems in a high availability environment.
  • Knowledge of security best practices, network protocols and ability to deploy proactively in a hosted VM environment.
  • Knowledge of ISCSI storage with utilization, implementation, and maintenance
  • Proficiency in VMware associated programs and scripting, such as Windows Server, SSH, Telnet and PowerShell
  • Capable of hands-on problem-solving, with the ability to generate ideas and solutions
  • Implementing software updates, patches, and security enhancements to ensure a secure and up-to-date IT environment.
  • Utilize help desk ticketing system to answer customer issues, providing support for issues brought to us by either email, phone, or walk-ups.
  • Utilize tools to take care of user needs such as but not limited to setting up users, resetting accounts and passwords, and assigning permissions to user accounts.
  • Capability to manage and maintain a Secure Trust for connecting to corporate domain
  • Knowledge and best practices of different operating systems such as Windows Server, Windows 10, CentOS, Ubuntu.
  • Preferred Requirements:
  • Coding capability with MS IIS, WebSphere, Citrix, Python, and C++
  • VMware Certified Professional or related certifications that demonstrate a high level of proficiency in virtualized systems
  • Active Directory and Exchange Server Experience
