The Systems Engineer provides 24/7 engineering support for NEP’s baseband and SMPTE 2110 (IP) broadcast mobile units, studios, and production systems. This role supports new builds, existing systems, and retrofit projects, and works with both IP-based and baseband broadcast technologies. The Systems Engineer collaborates with internal teams, on-site engineers, and external vendors to ensure reliable operation of mission-critical broadcast systems in live production environments.
Provide 24/7 technical support for NEP mobile units, studios, and broadcast systems
Support new builds, existing systems, and retrofit projects, including system integration, testing, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support and implement SMPTE-2110, IP-based, and baseband production systems
Assist on-site engineering teams with troubleshooting IP video, baseband, and network-related issues, including:
Router control systems
Intercom systems
EVS networks
Other networked and baseband broadcast equipment
Provide live show support as required, including:
Configuring and troubleshooting IP and baseband broadcast equipment
Building, modifying, and validating router layouts
Integrating third-party and client-provided equipment
Assist with system validation, documentation, and operational handoff for new builds and retrofit projects
Interface with internal and external vendors to report issues and provide detailed documentation and reproduction steps for software or hardware problems
Perform other duties as assigned
Technical degree or Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
Strong technical support background
In-depth knowledge of Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching, TCP/IP networking, and multicast protocols
Experience supporting broadcast systems in live production environments
Proficiency in Linux and Windows operating systems
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and demonstrate strong time-management skills
Willingness and ability to travel as required
Ability to quickly learn new technologies and solutions
